The brief in 2023 was modest enough: a Web Summit side event that put founders and investors in the same room.
Web Summit generates dozens of side events, and most of them are forgettable by design — a bar, a banner, a queue. We registered 200 people for the first one. Four hundred came.
That gap between the list and the room is the whole case. It is what turns a one-off into a platform, provided somebody treats the second year as a product rather than a repeat.
Three years on, Future Unicorns is Zubr Capital's signature event — admission only, with ticket sales opening three months ahead. My side of it has been the visual experience the guests actually walk into: the thing that makes an evening feel like an occasion rather than a room with a logo in it, and the reason people book before they know who is speaking.
450+ attendees a year, reliably. The event sells out no later than two weeks before the doors open, with early-bird tickets starting at €50 and late-bird reaching €150 — a price people pay for a side event they could, in principle, find a free alternative to.
